Explore Literary and Historic Chelsea

Chelsea is one of the most beautiful parts of London, adjacent to the River Thames, the elegant Albert Bridge and the large green expanse of Battersea Park. Chelsea is a safe and affluent area, home to a wide array of cultural experiences and fascinating architecture. Wander down the bustling King’s Road, explore charming back streets, meander along the Chelsea Embankment or watch the world go by from a cosy cafe.

Chelsea has a strong literary history and was once home to Samuel Beckett, George Elliot, A. A. Milne and Oscar Wilde, among others. Agatha Christie once lived in Swan Court, where our sabbatical apartments are located.

Chelsea (and London in general) is an excellent place for children. Swan Court is a very short walk from St. Luke’s Church, which has a lovely park, gated playground and sports facilities. Battersea Park has a huge adventure playground for children of all ages and has its own zoo. With just a 15 minute walk from the apartment, you can visit the National History Museum and Science Museum in Kensington, both major attractions for kids of all ages. Opposite the apartments, the Chelsea Sports Centre includes a children’s swimming pool. Children under five travel for free on almost all public transport in London.
